1. How is Roots different from others?

Even though, Roots is relatively new in the field of MBA coaching, our track record of results produced in the last 4 years have been outstanding with an average of 81 IIM calls per every 100 students, which is 27 times better than the industry standard. We have transparency of Results and students can find the name, email id, contact number and the calls received by our students in the last 2 years on our notice board. One of the main reasons for the success of Rooters is the personalized attention that they get by virtue of small batch strength.

At Roots we use a scientific method of teaching based on 'Test methodology'. Students can take advantage of our Personalized (UNLIMITED) sectional tests dedicated to improve key skill areas. Students have the access to the best faculty that includes IIT / IIM Alumni, language and behavioral experts who not only help in CAT preparation but also act as your mentors for life by providing valuable insights to understanding yourself and improving your overall personality.

2. How many calls did Rooters receive in all the 4 years?

On an average Rooters have received 81 IIM calls per every 100 students enrolled. This is 27 times better than the average industry results because more than 2 Lakh students appear for the exam and only about 4500 calls are sent out collectively by all the IIMs.

3. Do we get exposure to other exams including MAT?

We have series of full length tests called 'Guru Gyan Tests'. The tests are prepared by IIM/ ISB alumni. The test is structured to prepare the student's strategy to different levels, skills, concepts that can likely be tested in the coming year. This includes 10 CAT papers, 1 each of XAT, SNAP, FMS, JMET, and IIFT. Apart from this the students also get the previous years' papers and MOCK test papers. If a student is sufficiently prepared from a CAT perspective then understanding MAT is relatively easy. We have test bank question papers for MAT that the students can attempt.

4. What is the structure of the course followed at 'Roots?

At Roots the structure and approach is based on scientifically proven 'test methodology', which builds on the conceptual understanding rather than on the rules and formulas. 17. What is meant by personalized test?

A personalized test, Guru Mantra Test, is a sectional test with pre-assigned levels. Depending on the student's performance in the class and combined skill test, the student is individually assigned a level for each of the skills. Depending on the performance in the assigned test, the student's level of test is increased or decreased to help understand one's strong and weak areas and work on these. We call it as the 'absolute benchmarking' as you will be competing with yourself in order to improve your key skill areas and identify your weakness and work on the same.

18. How does the benchmarking help?

There are two levels of benchmarking - Absolute and Relative. An absolute benchmarking helps you in understanding where you are in terms of - understanding key skill areas, accuracy and speed in comparison to your own previous performance. This is an important guide for assessing your improvements within each sub-section / sections.

A relative benchmarking on the other hand helps you to identify where you stand amongst all others attempting the test. This is an important tool to assess your overall strategy development.

For example: Through absolute benchmarking, you might have identified your key skills (strengths and weaknesses) but relative benchmarking will help you to see if you have actually used this understanding in choosing the right questions and whether you have managed to time your paper across sections to maximize your scores.

19. What is MTAS? What does it provide?

MTAS is the 'MBAGuru Test Analysis System'. This is online analysis system that tells you your performance across combined skill tests, GMTs and GGTs. The analysis break up gives you different parameters of your performance in terms of levels (Easy, intermediate, difficult questions) across all the individual sections and your speed and accuracy in each of these skills and levels of questions attempted.

20. Do Roots primarily cater only to the Engineers and IITians?

No. This is myth. Vowing to the background of our Directors (IITD Alumnus), it is perceived that way. We have had several Rooters in the past who are Non-engineers and have made it to the top B-schools including the IIMs. Roots do attract lots of students from the best colleges (IIT, NSIT, DCE, and SRCC) every year. This by itself is a proof of our quality as these are some of brightest students looking for the best quality mentoring.

21. Do you provide enough materials or will there be a requirement to buy additional reference books?

CAT or any entrance exam is not about learning everything; it is about learning the strategy to attempt the best possible questions in a limited time. So, at Roots we concentrate on the concept building and our reference materials, assignments, tests are updated and in-depth in their content. However, depending on the individual student needs, one can refer to any additional readings.

There are assignments for every section that are given to students from time to time as the course progress for additional practice.

23. Do you provide Demonstration session of classes conducted by Faculty?

No. we do not provide any demonstration session, as we believe that a small demonstration should not be the parameter to assess the quality. However, the students can come and speak to the individual faculty members by taking an appointment to familiarize and understand the teaching style, or clarify their doubts.

24. Why is there a special focus on Vocabulary at Roots?

We believe that vocabulary is an important understanding tool to improve the overall understanding of English language in general and Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability from test perspective. Also, there are many exams that test 'vocabulary' through 'Analogy' questions and also it is important to be prepared for the unexpected as one can never be sure as to what CAT tests you on.

25. Is the preparation through MBAGuru sufficient to appear for other entrance exams?
