OVERVIEW

MBA Guru is a comprehensive course for your preparation for CAT and other B-school entrance examinations, with approximately 300 contact hours. MBA Guru Accelerated is a shorter duration version of the same program and extends over nearly 175 contact hours.

Weekly classroom sessions in each of the skills i.e. Reading Comprehension (RC), Verbal Ability (VA), Quantitative Ability (QA) and Data Analysis (DA), focus on concept strengthening and basic applications through topic-wise speed building modules. A few months into the program, enhanced applications including short-cut techniques are covered and your absolute progress is tracked by personalized skill-development tests.

While the skill-sessions in the second half of the classroom program continue to focus on personalized skill-development, your relative progress is tracked through a series of full-length tests that measure your performance against your toughest competitors from leading undergraduate institutes. Interactive sessions with IIM alumni are conducted to help you develop optimal strategies to crack the full-length tests.

The leadership development program commences alongside the preparation for the written part of the exam and a series of sessions and workshops are conducted even before the written portion of CAT. The intensity of the leadership development program increases after the written exam(s). The post-written-stage part of this program includes concept sessions covering general, business and economic awareness, Group Discussion and Personal Interview fundamentals, practice Personal Interviews, and practice Group Discussions conducted by IIM alumni, who also provide you comprehensive individual feedback to ensure that you are thoroughly prepared to clear the final hurdle. The leadership development program also includes assistance with resumes, statement-of-purpose (SOP), and personal essays that are invariably a part of the entrance procedure to the top business schools at the post-written stage. In addition to the above, the leadership development module also includes assistance in your campus/ off-campus placements.

If you avail the Individual Mentorship Module (IMM), you benefit from the invaluable career guidance provided by distinguished alumni from leading business schools in India (IIMs, ISB, FMS amongst others) and abroad (The Wharton School, INSEAD amongst others), who are presently working at top positions across a spectrum of industries. COURSE COMPONENTS - DETAILED

English and Math concept strengthening

Basic and Advanced concepts in English (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) and Math (Quantitative Ability and Data Analysis) will be developed through interactive skill-sessions. The basis of the concept development is the Guru-fundae books. The VA sessions will focus on developing grammar, vocabulary and verbal reasoning fundamentals as applicable in the context of CAT//other MBA entrance exams. The RC sessions will focus on improving reading speed, developing passage comprehension and techniques to tackle the different question types in CAT/other MBA entrance exams. The QA sessions will focus on developing advanced techniques to tackle Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry questions in CAT/other MBA entrance exams. The DA sessions will focus on developing Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency skills, and the analytical skills to solve logical reasoning problems and techniques to tackle the different question types in CAT/other MBA entrance exams.

Speed development through topic-wise tests

Short and intense topic wise tests in VA, RC, QA and DA, every week, will assist you in applying the concept knowledge gained, in improving upon your speed and accuracy, and in identifying your strong and weak areas. The tests correspond to the concepts discussed in the class during a skill-session. The basis of your speed development is the Guru-gati Tests.

Personalized skill development (PSD) through absolute benchmarking

Your individual skill levels in VA, RC, QA and DA will be gauged every week through individualized skill tests and your tests for a particular week will be decided on your previous week's performance. In this way the skill tests will adapt to your skill level and provide you with your absolute performance benchmark. The basis of your individual skill development is the Guru-mantra Tests.

Relative performance through full length tests

A series of 15 full-length tests, developed by management graduates from the IIMs and ISB and conducted over a period of 3 months, will measure your performance (with parameters such as your score, speed and accuracy in a test and over a period of time) against your real competitors. The initial frequency of one test per week will increase in the last few weeks to provide you intensive test practice just before CAT. With comprehensive online analysis available for each full-length test, and frequent feedbacks by the faculty, these tests will provide you with your relative performance benchmark. The basis of your relative performance will be the Guru-gyaan Tests.

Leadership development Module

Your interpersonal skills development begins even before the CAT written exam. The pre-written exam part of this program will focus on Curriculum Vitae (CV) development skills, basic Interview skills, basic Group Discussion skills, Essay Writing skills and general and business awareness. The second part of the program will focus on strengthening your Interview and Group Discussion Skills, apart from concept sessions across various functional streams offered in management schools like Finance, Macro-Economics, Strategy, Marketing etc. The basis of your interpersonal skills development is the Be-the-Guru leadership development module.

Individual Mentorship Module (IMM)

In terms of overall career development, you will be associated with a mentor (click here to view the list of mentors) who will provide you guidance with respect to an MBA program and a career after an MBA. The mentors are graduates from leading business schools and have real world experience and give you practical advice. This will provide you with an excellent networking opportunity also. Students are encouraged to develop personal relationships with their mentors through the duration of the program and beyond. The basis of your career guidance is the Individual Mentorship Module.
