Roots Education
has joined hands with the NGO Sshrishti to educate slum children free of cost. This initiative by Roots is driven by its vision of reaching out and making a difference to education at the grassroot level. As a part of this endeavour, the organization has enetered into a partnership with Sshrishti, an NGO dedicated to the education of slum children upto 5th & 6th grade.
Roots
is partnering Sshrishti not only in developing the curriculum framework, providing logistical support to overcome the challenges of resource mobilization and management but also in active teaching in Science, Maths and English, subjects that experts say have a life-long bearing on any individual.
It is well known that getting the children from poor and disadvataged backgrounds to education is not an easy task as their primary objective is not to get educated but to earn their daily bread & butter. Herein members of TeamRoots are not only assisting Sshrishti in educating these 'future stars' but are also volunteering in convincing their parents about the need for basic education for their children. The students of Roots, who hail from backgrounds as diverse as IIT and Commerce and Arts, and contain a healthy mix of college goers, fresh graduates as well as working professionals, are also motivated to be a part of this project and several of them even take classes for these children during weekends.
